Julie Babb

Julie was born in New York City. Moving to Mexico City while still very young, Julie attended the Lycee Franco-Mexicaine and completed two years at Mexico City College (now called the University of the Americas).

Moving to Maine in 1962, Julie met and married her husband, Bruce, that same year. In 1963, they moved to Rochester, NY for Bruce's employment with Eastman Kodak. In 1992 Julie and Bruce returned to Maine.

Julie's love of nature has always beenb a part of her life. Growing up in Mexico, she was surrounded with birds, animals and flowers all year round. Drawing and painting were alway present in the home as her mother, father and sister were all artists. Julie enjoyed art as a hobby, with her intrest growing as her children got older. While in Rochester, Julie began to take various courses at the University of Rocherster's Memorial Art Gallery with a focus on classical drawing, color theory and portraiture.

After returning to Maine, Julie decided to make art a full-time career. She has taught many courses in the community, including Drawing for Kids at Round Top Center for the Arts in Damariscotta, ME. Her Adult Education courses included "Sketching from Nature", "Introduction to Gouache" and "Calligraphy & Illustrated Manuscript". She also has taught basic drawing for both Elderhostel and Senior Spectrum. She also gives private lessons at her studio in Pemaquid, ME.
