Reagan Danos

I was born in New Orleans, LA, and raised in a little town called Cut Off, which is in southern Louisiana. My wife, Robin, and I built our home in an area that is more rural than it is city. It is a good area for raising kids, of which we have two, Joshua and Kimberly.

My working background comes from working with my father as a Shrimp and Crab fisherman, Hardware Feed & Seed Store for the farming life, and Shipyard work to the Oil Field Industry.

My carving started in 1978, but I was always around the decoys prior to my carving because of the duck hunting we did.

I got started carving somewhat from doing taxidermy work with my brother Carl. We were invited to display some of the taxidermy work at one of our festivals, and it was there that we saw some very detailed decoy carvings, which inspired us to take on a challenge. After carving for a couple of years I entered my first competition in New Orleans, where I did very well, and that inspired me to continue on.

I’ve entered many shows on the East Coast, South Coast and Mid States, and displayed at many Art Shows. I have won hundreds of ribbons and awards from First to Fourth place, and hold 30 “Best in the Show” awards.

Carving art in 3-D form does not come easily, it takes plenty of time, patience and studying of each species being created in its own habitat.
